When discussing salvation, it is important to have accurate knowledge. Therefore we're sharing with you something Doug learned as "Roman's Road" from his then-pastor Dan Dareing at Elk River Baptist Church in Grove, Oklahoma. We're not sure if Bro. Dan originated this but it has proven helpful in sharing the gospel in a meaningful way to help those who are lost follow the straight and narrow path that leads home. It's also important for whomever you are sharing this with agrees (and knows in their heart) that the holy bible is true and that it is the inspired Word of Jehovah God. The hyperlinked text below is from http://www.biblegateway.com. They are a great resource for biblical knowledge and have on their site the Holy Bible translated in many different languages and versions. If you don't mind marking (in pencil or pen) in your bible then write in the very first page the following: (write only the part in parentheses) 1) (Go to Romans 1:15-17) then, go there & mark those passages 2) Write in the margin at Romans 1:15-17 the following: (Go to Romans 3:23). Then go there & mark that passage. 3) Write in the margin at Romans 3:23 the following: (Go to Romans 6:23). Then go there & mark that passage. 4) Write in the margin at Romans 6:23 the following: (Go to John 3:3). Go there & mark that passage. 5) Write in the margin at John 3:3 the following: (Go to John 14:6). Go & mark that passage. 6) Write in the margin at John 14:6 the following: (Go to Romans 10:9-13). Go to those passages & mark them. 7) Write in the margin at Romans 10:9-13 the following: (Go to Revelation 3:20). Go there, mark the passage & write in the margin (Commitment?) You'll know as you practice this how much detail to get into with each passage. Doug tries to explain each passage before moving to the next scripture. It's been said that most people have to hear the message approximately seven times before coming to the understanding needed for them to make a commitment. Don't take it personally if you "walk with them down Roman's Road" and they don't accept salvation at that moment. You might be the first, third or sixth person sharing the gospel with them. Let go, let God. Likewise don't get puffed up and full of pride if they DO make the choice of eternal life while you are sharing the gospel. Always remember it's GOD working through YOU for HIS purpose. |
